05.10.2018

Brooks Pierce attorney Amanda Whorton served as a panelist for a discussion on the #MeToo movement at an event at the Wake Forest University Law School on April 18.  The discussion was hosted by two Wake Law School student organizations, Sports and Entertainment Law Society and Women in Law, and was moderated by Suzanne Reynolds, the dean of the law school.

Panelists discussed the #MeToo movement and the broader themes of sexual harassment and assault, specifically as they relate to the sports and entertainment industries. The discussion included descriptions of how sports and entertainment law have been affected in light of the #MeToo movement, how women can play a larger role in both industries, and how lawyers are changing how they advise their clients after #MeToo.

Whorton is a Wake Forest University Law School alumna and entertainment lawyer who represents radio and television stations, producers, filmmakers, musicians and artists. A former television producer herself, she counsels clients on a wide range of issues, including intellectual property protection and litigation, contracts, licensing, privacy, and Federal Communications Commission regulatory compliance.
