Patricia Goodson, partner in the Raleigh office of Brooks Pierce, chaired the Employment and Labor Law Practice Group meeting of Geneva Group International’s North American Regional Conference, held May 15-18 in New Orleans.

Founded in 1995, Geneva Group International (GGI) allows member firms to expand their international presence through networking and educational events. GGI is an alliance of experienced accounting, consulting and law firms committed to meeting the international business requirements of clients. Goodson serves as the North American Chair for GGI’s Employment and Labor Law Practice Group.
The Employment and Labor Law Practice Group meeting focused on international employment agreements. The discussion highlighted topics such as when to enter written employment agreements, employee terminations, and tips for managing employee relationships.

“As a member of GGI, Brooks Pierce has a strong international network of trusted firms to turn to as local counsel, which in turn, benefits our clients,” said Goodson. “This year’s conference led to engagement with professionals from across the globe as we shared insights into some of the key issues that our corporate clients face regularly.”

Goodson routinely counsels and defends employers on a variety of employment-related issues, including federal and state discrimination laws, wage and hour compliance, employment agreements, and restructuring severance programs and policies. She was named North American Chair of the GGI Employment and Labor Law Practice Group at last year’s GGI European Conference in Lisbon, Portugal.

Brooks Pierce is the only law firm in North Carolina to be a member of GGI.
