Brooks Pierce, a leading law firm in North Carolina, is pleased to announce that Shana L. Fulton has joined the firm as of counsel in its Raleigh office. She will focus her practice on litigation and white-collar criminal defense and investigations.

“We are excited to welcome Shana to Brooks Pierce as we continue to expand our presence in North Carolina,” said Reid Phillips, the firm’s managing partner. “She brings a wealth of courtroom experience to the practice, and her knowledge and talents will be an asset to both the firm and our clients.”

Fulton comes to Brooks Pierce from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, where she served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, most recently as deputy chief of the felony major crimes trial section. She has prosecuted white-collar, violent crime, narcotics, weapons, domestic violence and sex crime cases, including cases that received national attention. In her 11 years with the U.S. Attorney’s office, Fulton tried 33 cases, including 27 jury trials, and investigated or indicted nearly 50 cases with grand juries.

She began her legal career as an associate with Williams & Connolly in Washington D.C., where she helped defend high-profile public officials in government ethics investigations and worked on cases involving accounting fraud, professional malpractice and civil and criminal matters in state and federal courts.

Fulton received her law degree from Columbia Law School and her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is licensed to practice law in Washington D.C., and is currently working to reactivate her license to practice in North Carolina.
