John H. Small Profiled by N.C. State Bar Board of Legal Specialization Newsletter

05.29.2018

Brooks Pierce partner John H. Small was recently profiled by the newsletter of the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization in recognition of his 30 years of certification in Business and Consumer Bankruptcy Law.

Small told the newsletter that he launched his legal career with the intent to help people and improve society. He decided to pursue certification in an effort to demonstrate expertise in bankruptcy law for himself and his firm.

The profile also reveals a more personal side of Small. He considers his father, who was a lawyer and judge, to be his greatest mentor saying that he “demonstrated an unwavering commitment to do what was right and to seek justice for all” and “set a standard for doing the right thing regardless of the personal cost.”

Small looks forward to practicing law full time in the next few years and plans to mentor younger attorneys to continue Brooks Pierce’s strong bankruptcy practice.
