Harrod Wins First Prize in Fiction Writing Competition

July 8, 2008

Brooks Pierce partner Jennifer Harrod recently won first prize from the North Carolina State Bar in their Fourth Annual Fiction Writing Competition.

The submissions were judged by a panel of six committee members, and Jennifer's winning article was published in the Summer 2008 edition of The North Carolina State Bar Journal.

In "The Incredible Will of Edna Bell Hall" an elderly woman's handwritten will illuminates the different ways people seek meaning and connection in life. In her will Mrs. Hall tries in vain to explain to her son how she found love and purpose in her lonely life.

Jennifer Harrod represents clients in all types of commercial litigation in federal and state courts and assists corporate clients in conducting internal investigations. She has represented clients in connection with claims of accounting malpractice, securities fraud, real estate disputes, and business tort litigation.

Jennifer also serves the Guardian Ad Litem program as both a volunteer child advocate and pro bono attorney in Alamance County.
