Brooks Pierce partner Jean Brooks is one of the authors of the recently published Updating Your Company's Corporate Governance Policies.

The book features advice from leading lawyers on implementing and maintaining good corporate governance standards, analyzing compliance programs, evaluating possible risks, and tailoring policies to fit the needs of various companies.

The chapter authored by Ms. Brooks is entitled "Emerging Corporate Governance Perspectives" and highlights components of an effective governance policy, corporate governance changes, reviewing the governance policy and company charters, and successful governance strategies.

Jean Brooks practices primarily in the areas of corporate, mergers and acquisitions, securities and banking law. She represents both public and private companies and advises clients on the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and corporate governance matters. She also has experience with public and private financing transactions, including venture capital, private placement and capital market transactions. In 2007, Jean taught "Business Planning" at Wake Forest University School of Law.
