Bob Saunders Participates on Risk Management Panel at Fall UNC System Attorneys Meeting
Brooks Pierce partner Bob Saunders recently participated on a panel discussing risk management and associated entities at the 2019 Fall University of North Carolina (UNC) System Attorneys meeting. The event was held at the University of North Carolina Charlotte on Nov. 5.
The panel, entitled “Associated Entities: Risk Management and the Role of Legal Counsel,” discussed the role of counsel in managing risks, the types of support and resources institutions provide to associated entities, and legal authority relevant to activities of associated entities.
Saunders participated on the panel along with the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Integrity and General Counsel for the UNC School of the Arts David Harrison, and Associate General Counsel for University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Micah Malouf.
Saunders is a tax and business lawyer with extensive experience in the nonprofit sector. He counsels primarily tax-exempt organizations, both charitable and non-charitable, on a wide range of issues including formation, operation, merger, dissolution and reorganization as well as federal and state tax controversy, tax-exempt financing and charitable giving matters related to the nonprofit community.
