Brooks Pierce partner Charles Marshall spoke at the quarterly CFO Roundtable sponsored by Parker & Lynch, DMJ Accounting and Scott Insurance in High Point on Aug. 16.
In his presentation, entitled “Data Privacy—A Legal Assessment,” Marshall discussed the importance of collaboration between a company’s marketing, operations, IT and legal departments in order to mitigate risk and remain compliant with state and federal regulations governing data collection and data breach response. He highlighted the important questions executives need to consider to help limit their company’s exposure in the event of a data breach.
Marshall has a diverse legal practice involving data privacy, government relations and complex business litigation. He has experience counseling companies in responding to data breaches, helping to identify potential data privacy issues and implementing policies to reduce the risk of a data breach. Marshall regularly appears in state and federal courts, handling cases through the trial and appeal process when necessary.
