Coe Ramsey to Speak About Contracts and Riders at World of Bluegrass Event

09.28.2014

Brooks Pierce Partner Coe W. Ramsey will speak at the 2014 World of Bluegrass event hosted by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) in Raleigh, North Carolina, September 30 – October 4.

Ramsey will serve as a panelist at a session titled “The Big Negotiation: The Nitty Gritty of Contracts and Riders” on September 30. The interactive discussion will explore the complexities of contracts and riders and discuss what individuals can do, either as a presenter, venue operator or performer, to minimize their liability and maximize the odds that both parties are satisfied with the agreement.

Established in 1985, the IBMA is a trade association that connects and educates bluegrass professionals, empowers the bluegrass community and encourages worldwide appreciation of bluegrass music. IBMA’s World of Bluegrass event, an annual bluegrass music homecoming, consists of four parts: the IBMA Business Conference, the 25th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards, the Wide Open Bluegrass music festival and the Bluegrass Ramble, an innovative series of showcase performances.

A partner in the Raleigh office of Brooks Pierce, Ramsey focuses his practice on entertainment and communications law and has advised major recording artists, bands, musicians, songwriters, producers, record companies, publishers, and broadcast stations on various matters relating to the music entertainment business. Prior to becoming an attorney, Coe worked as a radio station mix show disc jockey, a mobile and nightclub disc jockey and a re-mixer/music producer.
