Kearns Davis Participates In American College of Trial Lawyers Panel Discussion
Brooks Pierce partner Kearns Davis recently participated in a panel discussion at the 2019 annual meeting of the North Carolina Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers in Asheville, North Carolina. Fellowship in the American College of Trial Lawyers is extended by invitation only to experienced trial lawyers in the United States and Canada who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality.
The panel discussion, entitled “Origins of Professionalism,” offered multiple perspectives from trial practice. Davis participated alongside Catharine Arrowood, Wade Smith and Judge Paul Ridgeway. Arrowood acted as moderator and Judge Ridgeway provided his perspective from the trial bench.
Davis heads Brooks Pierce’s white-collar criminal defense and investigations practice, and handles a wide range of federal and business litigation. He previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina, as a law clerk to the late Chief Judge Sam J. Ervin III of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and as president of the North Carolina Bar Association. Davis teaches trial advocacy at the University of North Carolina School of Law and he previously taught trial advocacy at the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Advocacy Center, the Elon University School of Law and for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
