Ryan Fairchild Speaks on Panel at Esports Bar Association Conference

Brooks Pierce attorney Ryan Fairchild recently served on a panel entitled “Governance, Player Unions, and Dispute Resolution” at the second annual Esports Bar Association (EBA) Conference in Los Angeles.

The panel detailed how governance structure is dependent on and varies between game publishers. The panel further discussed the benefits and risks of players unions and dispute resolution difficulties and potential solutions.

Fairchild served on the panel with the senior legal director of esports leagues for Activision/Blizzard and the executive director of the League of Legends Player Association.

The EBA is a nonprofit, international professional organization dedicated to providing a forum for discussion, expertise and professional development for practicing attorneys, law students, and other professionals in esports and to moving esports forward by fostering public engagement, promoting business and professional standards, increasing access for underrepresented groups, encouraging legal and academic work and advocating for sensible public policy.

Fairchild’s diverse practice includes a particular emphasis on the esports industry. He represents players, organizations and stakeholders in a variety of contract, intellectual property, employment and corporate issues. His passion for esports derives from being a lifelong gamer, and he understands the various esports cultures and dynamics, as well as legal, economic and structural issues facing the industry.
