Stephen Hartzell, a partner in the Raleigh office of Brooks Pierce, will participate in the UAV/Drone Education Forum being held for members of the North Carolina League of Municipalities on Nov. 16. Among other things, he will speak to the potential legal implications of commercial drone use and issues that local governments may need to consider, including privacy and the scope of regulation, as the technology becomes more common.
A mix of government IT professionals, city attorneys, public information officers, planners and elected officials are expected to attend the event. The North Carolina League of Municipalities is a nonpartisan group that represents more than 540 cities, towns and villages in North Carolina.
