Brooks Pierce Participates in NCBA YLD Law Student Outreach Committee Transactional Law Panel
Brooks Pierce attorneys Anna Tison, Haniya Mir, Samantha Hovaniec and Mousa Alshanteer will participate in a panel discussion on transactional law sponsored by the North Carolina Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division Law Student Outreach Committee on April 6 at 6 p.m. Brooks Pierce attorney Erin Barker will moderate the discussion.
The panel, “What’s the deal? Insights into Transactional Law,” will discuss counseling and advising businesses on various corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financing, public and private securities offerings, real estate financing and more.
Tison represents owners, developers, investors and lenders with the acquisition, disposition and leasing of commercial real estate. She has worked as both lender’s counsel and borrower’s counsel and has experience handling complex real estate transactions both locally and nationally. Tison counsels clients on every step of the sale or purchase process, including drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, leasing agreements, financing instruments and all aspects of due diligence relating to title, survey and land use considerations.
Mir represents clients in a variety of M&A transactions. She has worked on public and private transactions, representing both acquirer and target companies, as well as private equity firms. Mir also advises clients on public and private securities offerings. She counsels public companies on securities law reporting requirements under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as well as compliance with the listing requirements of the major U.S. exchanges. Mir also advises businesses on entity formation, corporate governance, and contract drafting and negotiation.
Hovaniec represents businesses of all sizes in various corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and equity and debt financing. She works closely with clients to provide thorough, timely counsel through a host of complex corporate transactions.
Alshanteer focuses his practice on environmental and health care law, advising businesses and individuals in both sectors on how to remain compliant with state and federal laws. In his environmental and health care practices, Alshanteer counsels clients on regulatory compliance, permitting, litigation and transactional matters.
Barker works with businesses and individuals on a variety of corporate and transactional matters. She has experience assisting buyers and sellers with purchase agreements, related closing documents and loan transactions. Barker also counsels clients on real estate transactions, including financing, commercial lease reviews and drafting of closing documents.
