Brooks Pierce partner Kearns Davis will present at the North Carolina Bar Association’s Litigation Section Continuing Legal Education (CLE) series on May 19. The CLE will include different sessions dedicated to providing insight into changes in the practice of law in light of the pandemic, including government investigations, parallel civil and criminal proceedings and more.
Davis’ session, “The Wolf is at the Door: When Law Enforcement Contacts Your Client,” discusses best legal practices when a client is contacted by the authorities, whether it be a grand jury subpoena, a visit from a federal agent or a search warrant on their home or business.
Davis leads Brooks Pierce’s white-collar defense and investigations practice and handles a broad range of federal and business litigation. A former federal prosecutor, he has tried jury cases at all levels of federal and North Carolina trial courts, and he represents clients in U.S. trial and appellate courts across the country.
