Brooks Pierce partner Ed Turlington spoke to a joint meeting of the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA) and the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) boards in Raleigh on September 15, 2015. He provided an update on the 2015 session of the North Carolina General Assembly and discussed issues pending before the Legislature that impact the technology and entrepreneurial communities. Brooks Raiford, President of NCTA, introduced Turlington.
Other speakers at the meeting included State Treasurer Janet Cowell, who spoke about investments by the State pension fund to encourage job creation, and Ted Abernathy, of Economic Leadership, LLC. Abernathy discussed the State of North Carolina Technology Report that he authors for NCTA.
Turlington has served as State Government Counsel to NCTA for over 10 years and is a past recipient of its IT Support Services Award. He represents a number of industries, including the technology sector, before the executive and legislative branches of State Government. He is a former Chief of Staff to both the Governor and Lt. Governor of North Carolina, has served as a national advisor to three presidential candidates and worked in Washington, D.C. for two United States Senators.
