Brooks Pierce is pleased to announce that veteran attorney Ann Stuart has joined the firm’s Wilmington office as of counsel. Stuart brings more than 35 years of experience in commercial real estate law to the firm.

She shares Brooks Pierce’s commitment to achieving clients’ objectives, and she can do very complex and challenging work. She’s going to be part of a Brooks Pierce real property team that works with leading developers to plan, execute and deliver projects throughout North Carolina and nationwide.”
Stuart has extensive experience in a variety of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisition, development, partitioning, and liquidation. She regularly negotiates leases on behalf of landlords and tenants and works with financial institutions to confirm appropriate lease terms. Stuart has also structured the financing of numerous real estate ventures, including construction loans, conduit loans, defeasance and permanent loans and modifications, forbearance, workouts, and foreclosures of those loans. Her clients’ projects include residential subdivisions, shopping centers, condominium developments, office buildings, apartment complexes, mixed-use development, and cogeneration facilities. Additionally, Stuart regularly works with small businesses and closely held businesses in acquisition and sale transactions, and assists clients with estate planning.

Prior to joining Brooks Pierce, Stuart practiced in Raleigh and Durham with Moore & Van Allen, and then moved to Troutman Sanders LLP. In 2013, Stuart relocated to Wilmington, where she established her own practice. Stuart earned her bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
