Brooks Pierce partner Bob Saunders recently completed training provided by Board Source to become a certified nonprofit board governance consultant.
The program is an intense three-day course designed for nonprofit consulting professionals and for those currently pursuing a career in consulting. The course features core curricula that gives nonprofit consultants the tools needed to address important and sometimes tough conversations that happen in the boardroom.
Saunders is a tax and business lawyer with extensive experience in the nonprofit sector. He counsels primarily tax-exempt organizations, both charitable and non-charitable, on a wide range of issues from organization and operations to reorganization and merger/dissolution. His practice also includes representation of nonprofits in federal and state tax audits, charitable gift and estate planning as well as tax-exempt financing. Saunders has been recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” in Greensboro for Nonprofit/Charities Law for 2020 and selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© for Nonprofit/Charities Law.
