Leading North Carolina law firm Brooks Pierce is pleased to announce that Daniel Adams has joined the firm. Adams, who will be of counsel, brings extensive experience in the practice of white-collar criminal defense and government investigations. During his career he has represented individuals and companies facing investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and other regulatory and oversight boards.

“We are delighted that Daniel is joining our already deep and knowledgeable white-collar criminal defense team,” said Reid Phillips, managing partner of Brooks Pierce. “In addition to his great legal experience, he brings a dedication and attitude that will benefit not only our clients, but the firm as a whole.”

Adams joined Brooks Pierce from the New York office of Latham & Watkins LLP, where he was a member of the litigation and trial department. He has also previously served as a public defender with The Bronx Defenders, where he represented more than 350 clients before the Bronx County Criminal and Supreme Courts. Adams received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, graduating magna cum laude, and received his law degree from Harvard Law School.

“Daniel has handled a variety of complex cases and has a strong reputation for helping clients achieve the best possible outcomes,” said partner Kearns Davis, who heads the white-collar criminal defense practice team for Brooks Pierce. “I know our clients will benefit from his skills and experience, and I look forward to working with him.”

Adams, who is admitted to practice in New York but not yet licensed in North Carolina, will be based in the firm’s Greensboro office.

“I grew up in North Carolina, and am excited to return to my home state and join a firm with such an excellent reputation,” Adams said. “I look forward to working with this group of talented attorneys, and to contributing my background defending individuals and companies in sensitive white-collar matters to the firm’s deep, broad experience in this area.”
