Brooks Pierce Attorney Named President of the Lucille Hunter Elementary School Foundation
Brooks Pierce partner Eric David has been appointed president of the board of directors of the Lucille Hunter GT/AIG Magnet Elementary School Foundation. Lucille Hunter Elementary School is a public magnet school for academically or intellectually gifted students in downtown Raleigh. The school places an emphasis on diversity and exposing children to cultural, social, ethnic, familial and racial differences. Originally built as a segregated school, Hunter Elementary just celebrated its 90th anniversary with a gala that also served as a kick-off fundraiser for the foundation.
The Lucille Hunter School Foundation works in partnership with the Hunter Elementary School Parent Teacher Association to provide additional financial support to the school.
David and partner Bob Saunders handled the legal work for the creation of the foundation and its recognition as a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization earlier this year.
A seasoned litigator, David focuses his practice on business litigation, First Amendment law, and media and communications law. He is finishing a one-year term as the board president of the Society for the Historic Preservation of Historic Oakwood.
