Brooks Pierce partner Justin Outling was recently interviewed by a student journalist with WFDD’s Radio Camp about his career as a lawyer.

During the interview, Outling discussed how his desire to help people led to a career in the legal profession. He also elaborated on some of his work as a member of the Greensboro City Council and his goals of ensuring affordable housing and providing better opportunities for current and future generations.

WFDD’s Radio Camp is a week-long, summer enrichment camp for middle school students interested in technology, journalism and radio. During the camp, students learn the basics of audio recording, how to conduct an interview and other skills needed to create radio stories.

Outling focuses his practice on business litigation and white-collar criminal defense. He has served as a Greensboro City Councilman since 2015 and was named to the Greensboro News & Record’s “Top 20 People of Influence” in 2017. In 2019, Outling received the North Carolina Bar Association’s (NCBA) Citizen Lawyer Award. He was also named one of the Triad Business Journal’s “40 Leaders Under 40” in 2016 and selected as “Outstanding Lawyer of the Year” by the Guilford County Association of Black Lawyers in 2016.
