The Citizens for Haw River State Park, a group opposing the development of a 692-acre tract of private land into a large residential and golf development, have won their fight.
With the help of firm partners Derek Allen and Reid Phillips, the citizens group successfully raised public and media awareness to the adverse effects of the proposed development while lobbying the Guilford County Commissioners to defeat the developer's rezoning request.
The developer, Florida-based Bluegreen Corp., has agreed to sell the entire parcel of land to the State of North Carolina for the expansion of the Haw River State Park in northeast Guilford County.
