NC Lawyers Weekly recently interviewed former Brooks Pierce managing partner Ed Winslow, on the evolution of the legal system. Winslow has practiced law for over 40 years, focusing on banking and tax law and litigation, and served as managing partner for 15 years.
Winslow said since he began practicing law there have been huge social and economic shifts that have impacted the legal system. “All that growth and complexity and change depend critically on the law and the legal system evolving to match it.” Winslow states.
When asked how to combat these new changes Winslow explained, “We need to reinvent our system for delivering legal services … both to ensure that firms respond better to clients’ needs, and also to be sure that firms continue to be fun and fulfilling settings for practitioners.”
Despite these changes, Winslow said: “Now is the best time there has ever been to practice law.”
