Elizabeth Spainhour Selected As North Carolina Lawyers Weekly 2019 Leader in the Law
Brooks Pierce partner Elizabeth Spainhour has been selected as a North Carolina Lawyers Weekly 2019 Leader in the Law. The award recipients will be honored at a ceremony on Oct. 25.
The Leaders in the Law award recognizes influential people in the North Carolina legal industry. Winners are selected by a panel of judges based on their professional and personal accomplishments and community involvement.
Spainhour provides comprehensive legal advice and strategic counsel to media and technology companies. Her principal areas of practice are mergers and acquisitions and regulatory matters involving those businesses. She has significant experience advising television and radio stations as well as digital and online businesses. She was instrumental in the launching of Brooks Pierce’s data privacy practice. She also served as founding chairperson of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Privacy and Data Security Committee and has been co-chair of the Carolinas Chapter of the Federal Communications Bar Association.
Spainhour was recently appointed by Gov. Roy Cooper to the Umstead Act Unfair Competition Panel, serving on the panel through June 30, 2022. She previously served as a volunteer with Guardian ad Litem of Wake County and as a licensed foster parent. Spainhour also volunteers with the Legal Aid of North Carolina Lawyer on the Line Program, providing free legal advice to people in need.
