Elizabeth Troutman Named to Triad Business Journal’s 40 Leaders Under 40
Elizabeth Troutman, an attorney in the Greensboro office of Brooks Pierce, was named to the Triad Business Journal’s “40 Leaders Under 40,” an annual listing of the region’s top young professionals. Selected based on their professional achievements and civic contributions, the winners will be honored at an awards presentation on Feb. 21.
Troutman has been practicing law for four years, focusing on advising public school boards of education, private educational institutions, colleges and universities on a wide range of education issues and litigating on behalf of educational institutions in state and federal courts. She is also a member of the executive committee for the North Carolina Council of School Attorneys and the North Carolina School Boards Association, serving as a resource to group members and speaking regularly at conferences. Troutman also helps clients in a variety of industries navigate the complexities of human resources and employment law issues, including employment policies and employee separation.

Troutman is also an active member of the Greensboro community. For the past three years, she has provided pro bono legal counsel to the Early Childhood Center (ECC) at West Market United Methodist Church, assisting it with all of its legal needs. She has also served as a member of the Healthy Tomorrow Alliance task force. In 2017 and 2018, Troutman co-chaired the Legal Aid of North Carolina Associates’ Fund drive in the Triad.
Beyond her work for clients and her local community, Troutman, who is blind, works to raise awareness on issues related to blind attorneys, including working with the National Association of Blind Lawyers to increase access to litigation tools and mentor other blind attorneys. Troutman and her husband, Dan, are parents to two adorable children, Will, 8, and Holden, 5.
