07.08.2019

Brooks Pierce attorney Elizabeth Troutman was recently named to The Business Journals’ “2019 Influencers: Law,” a list of 100 attorneys who were selected for driving business for their employers and their clients in cities across the country. The attorneys selected represent large, midsize and small law firms.

The attorneys were selected by editors and writers across The Business Journals’ network of more than 40 publications, including Triad Business Journal. Each has been featured as part of The Business Journals’ continuing coverage of the newsmakers in those cities.

Troutman advises public school boards of education, private educational institutions, colleges and universities on a wide range of education issues, and litigates on behalf of educational institutions in state and federal courts. She also assists a variety of clients in navigating the complexities of human resources and employment law issues, including employment policies and employee separation. She is an active member of the executive committee for the North Carolina Council of School Attorneys and the North Carolina School Boards Association.

Troutman, who is blind, serves on the board of the Industries of the Blind and works with other blind attorneys to raise awareness of barriers in the practice. In 2018, she was recognized by the Triad Business Journal as one of its “40 Leaders Under 40” and was most recently named a “Rising Star” in Schools and Education Law by North Carolina Super Lawyers and a “Rising Star” by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly.
