Justin Outling, a partner in the Greensboro office of Brooks Pierce, was recently appointed to the board of directors of Carolina State Bank. The new community bank opened its headquarters in Greensboro on Feb. 21.
Carolina State Bank, a division of Blue Ridge Bank, is the only financial institution currently headquartered in Greensboro. It is one of the first new financial institutions to open in North Carolina since 2008.
“I am excited to embark on this opportunity to serve a Greensboro-based institution and see it succeed,” said Outling. “With many other community banks merging with larger institutions and moving their headquarters elsewhere, it is encouraging to see a local bank want to call Greensboro home.”
Outling focuses his practice on business litigation and white-collar criminal defense. A Greensboro city councilman since 2015, he also serves on the board of visitors for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the boards of directors for Hospice Foundation of Greater Greensboro and Greensboro Downtown Parks.
