Brooks Pierce partner Iain MacSween was recently elected to a three-year term on the International Law Section Council of the North Carolina Bar Association.
Iain was elected at the International Law Section Annual Meeting held in February in Pinehurst, NC. His three-year term will officially begin on July 1, 2010.
Iain previously practiced in the commercial real estate department of a premier Scottish law firm, where he principally acted on behalf of several multi-national banks and oil and gas companies in property acquisitions, secured lending, private financing initiative projects and commercial lease agreements.
As former Business Counsel to a large US and European power company, Iain has experience counseling on regulatory matters, major company and industry reorganizations, financial services, credit risk, environmental matters, construction projects, and real estate matters. He also drafted and negotiated multi-million dollar wholesale energy, construction, and procurement contracts.
