Mark Prak Discusses the FCC Spectrum Auction with the Triangle Business Journal
Brooks Pierce partner Mark Prak was recently quoted by the Triangle Business Journal on coming changes in local television markets across the country and in Raleigh specifically.
The Federal Communications Commission recently hosted an auction where television stations could voluntarily sell their space on the airwaves, or spectrum, to wireless providers to create increased capacity for mobile devices. WNCN, the Triangle’s CBS affiliate, chose to sell its current spectrum and will relocate from a UHF to a VHF channel.
“The net result of this (auction) is cash flows from the wireless industry to television broadcasters,” Prak told the Triangle Business Journal.
