Reid Phillips Receives Greensboro Bar Association Distinguished Service Award

Reid Phillips, managing partner at Brooks Pierce, was presented with the Greensboro Bar Association’s Distinguished Service Award on Thursday, April 19.

Established in 1993, the Distinguished Service Award is presented to a lawyer who exhibits deep devotion and constant commitment to the law, the administration of justice, ethical principles and public service. It is the highest honor bestowed upon a Greensboro Bar Association member.

Based in the firm’s Greensboro office, Phillips has been practicing law for 40 years, with a focus on litigation, primarily for large companies and business owners facing complex business disputes. He became managing partner of the firm in 2016.

An active member of the community, he was the chairman of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro in 2017 and also served as the chairman of the LeBauer Park steering committee. He has served as chairman of the War Memorial Commission and the Greensboro Metropolitan YMCA and also served on the boards of directors for the Weatherspoon Art Museum Association, the Greensboro Bar Association and the Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art. In January, he was awarded the Denise E. Maleska Leadership Service Award by Leadership Greensboro. The award is presented annually to one person who demonstrates exemplary leadership in the Greensboro community.

Phillips has also received extensive professional recognition. He has been named to The Best Lawyers in America each year since 1999 for his work in commercial litigation, banking & finance litigation, and intellectual property litigation. He has also received regular recognition from North Carolina Super Lawyers, Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and Benchmark Litigation.
