Ryan Fairchild Quoted in Article on Esports Player Payment Controversy

Brooks Pierce attorney Ryan Fairchild was quoted in an article on Upcomer.com on the recent Epsilon Esports payment controversy.

The article, “Report: New Evidence Accuses Epsilon of Withholding Payments,” says that former players with Epsilon Esports received late payments, were underpaid based on salaries agreed upon in their contracts or not paid at all.

Fairchild says while Epsilon Esports is likely legally at fault for not paying the full amount laid out in the players’ contracts, it might be difficult for the former players to pursue a case due to the location of the organization’s headquarters.

“You’re a Belgian organization with foreign players, so you know it’s going to be difficult for them to sue, even in the equivalent of small claims court, so you're essentially shielded by the nature of the industry,” he said.
