Stephen Hartzell Quoted About Growth of Drone Industry

Stephen Hartzell, a partner in the Raleigh office of Brooks Pierce, was recently quoted in the Triangle Business Journal about why the economic impact of the drone industry has not yet met the projections.

Hartzell said government regulations have significantly slowed the industry.

“Government is still regulating at government speed rather than regulating at industry speed or, rather, the speed of technology,” he told the Triangle Business Journal.

Among the regulations Hartzell cited as limiting the commercialization of drones are restrictions that prohibit flying drones directly over people and or out of the operator’s line of sight.
