Thomas Varnum, a partner in the Wilmington office of Brooks Pierce, will be a panelist at the Longleaf Film Festival on Saturday, May 14. Varnum will join filmmaker Vernon Rudolph for a discussion on how to get films from idea to distribution. The event is being held at the Museum of History in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Varnum practices film and entertainment law, working with producers and filmmakers throughout the entire production process. He also represents and counsels businesses on a wide range of intellectual property and business matters. An avid supporter of the state's film industry, he is also chairman of the board for the Cucalorus Film Foundation.
"I'm excited to share my knowledge and experience with the filmmakers at the Longleaf Film Festival," Varnum said. "In order to succeed in the filmmaking business, you need to not just understand the creative side of the process, but also the legal landscape of the industry."
The Longleaf Film Festival is an annual showcase of films that explore historic and contemporary stories from the state, country, and around the world.
