Will Quick Named to Triangle Business Journal’s 40 Leaders Under 40

Will Quick, an attorney in the Raleigh office of Brooks Pierce, was named to the Triangle Business Journal’s “40 Leaders Under 40,” an annual listing of the region’s top young professionals. Selected based on their professional achievements and civic contributions, the 2018 winners will be honored at an awards presentation on June 28.

Quick has a diverse litigation and regulatory practice, representing businesses and local governments in trial and appellate matters and before government agencies. As a member of Brooks Pierce’s data privacy team, he helps businesses proactively implement policies and procedures that can reduce their risk of a data breach and assists with breach response when incidents occur. Recently, he has been a part of the team of attorneys from Brooks Pierce representing Gov. Roy Cooper in ongoing litigation with state legislative leaders over issues related to the separation of powers.

Quick is also involved in the community, serving as co-chair for the North Carolina Bar Association Litigation Section Pro Bono Committee and as a leader with the Young Lawyer’s Division. He has held a variety of leadership roles at North Carolina State University, his alma mater, including serving as president of N.C. State Friends of the Library from 2014-2016. During his term, the library undertook several initiatives to increase outreach to the broader Raleigh community and was presented with the National Medal for Museum and Library Service from the Institute of Museum and Library Service, which is awarded to institutions that demonstrate extraordinary and innovative approaches to public service.

Additionally, Quick is committed to giving his time and legal knowledge to a number of charitable organizations and pro bono efforts. He serves as outside general counsel to Pets for Vets Inc., a nonprofit organization with over 25 chapters across the U.S. that provide a second chance for shelter pets by rescuing, training and pairing them with veterans who could benefit from a companion animal. Following Hurricane Matthew, he also gave pro bono legal advice to individuals whose lives and properties were devastated by the ravages of the storm. In 2017, he was one of 170 attorneys recognized by the North Carolina Supreme Court for contributing more than 50 hours of pro bono service to the community. During the past year, Quick also co-chaired the North Carolina Free Legal Answers Task Force to implement a new program to provide pro bono legal advice on non-criminal matters to low-income North Carolinians.
