Brooks Pierce Attorneys Speak at NCBA’s 2024 Annual Review

Brooks Pierce partners Eric David and Kearns Davis will speak at the North Carolina Bar Association’s (NCBA) 2024 Annual Review on October 17-18 at the North Carolina Bar Center in Cary. The program will also be available to view via a live webcast.

During the program’s Civil Law Update, David will provide information on key decisions from the North Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, substantive areas of civil law, Rules of Civil Procedure, and Rules of Evidence. He will be joined by X. Lightfoot, employment and personal injury attorney at Ward and Smith, P.A.

Davis will present his 19th annual Federal Criminal Case Law Update, addressing significant federal cases from the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He will be joined by Jan Pritchett, managing partner and trial attorney at Schlosser & Pritchett, who will discuss key recent decisions by the North Carolina Supreme Court and North Carolina Court of Appeals.

David focuses his practice on business litigation, constitutional litigation, and media and communications law. He represents businesses, public agencies, and individuals in high-stakes litigation in federal and state court, and especially the North Carolina Business Court.

Davis, a former federal prosecutor and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, has tried jury cases at all levels of federal and North Carolina trial courts and represents clients in U.S. trial and appellate courts across the country. He is a veteran of both high-profile cases and sensitive matters resolved confidentially, for clients including public companies, private businesses, elected officials of both major parties, Hall of Fame athletes, Division I coaches, corporate executives, and professionals including doctors, accountants, professors, and numerous lawyers and law firms. He served as president of the North Carolina Bar Association in 2016-17.

The Annual Review is designed to provide participants with the latest updates on key court decisions and significant amendments to legislation and policies covering a variety of topics and practice areas. Program highlights include updates regarding business law; civil law; criminal law; employment law; estate planning law; family law; and real property law.
