Brooks Pierce is pleased to announce partner Robert “Bob” King III as the recipient of the Advocate’s Award by the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA), an honor established to recognize members of the NCBA’s Litigation Section who are “superstars” of the profession. He will be presented with the award on May 13 at Brooks Pierce’s Greensboro office.

King has more than 30 years of experience and is widely recognized as a leading litigator and trusted advisor by clients and peers. His experience extends to numerous trials in federal court, state Superior Court, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings.

King serves as the Firm’s General Counsel and also serves as outside counsel for major insurance marketing organizations, one of the oldest furniture companies in North Carolina, and one of the state’s major mining companies, among other businesses and organizations. He joins James T. Williams, Jr. (2010) as the other Brooks Pierce attorney to receive the Advocate’s Award.

“Bob is exceptionally deserving of this award for his incredible skill as a litigator and his commitment to our profession and his community,” said Brooks Pierce Managing Partner Jimmy Adams. “His dedication to the profession as well as his extensive involvement in the community make us incredibly proud, and we are so grateful for his impact at our firm, for our clients, and across the legal profession.”

King started his career at Brooks Pierce in 1988 and along the way has been elected as a Fellow in both the American College of Trial Lawyers as well as the American Bar Association. For the past 19 years, he has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© in Commercial Litigation and Environmental Law.

In addition to his work as a litigator, King has long been involved with his community by serving as an Elder at Fellowship Presbyterian Church and serving multiple terms as the Chair and President of the Presbyterian Counseling Center, in addition to service on other boards and direct volunteer work.

King earned his law degree at Wake Forest University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and was an editor for the Wake Forest Law Review, the university’s student-run law journal. He also attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he earned his B.A.
