Brooks Pierce sponsored the Nonprofit of the Year award at the 2024 Business Excellence Awards on June 21 for The Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro. For the past nine years, the Chamber has recognized exceptional businesses and business leaders in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area during the luncheon. The award winners are presented with special bee sculptures crafted by a local artist in recognition of their achievements.

Brooks Pierce attorney Jamey Lowdermilk presented the Nonprofit of the Year award. The award recognizes an outstanding Chamber member’s charitable non-profit organization that has shown growth, innovation of product, exemplary customer service, response to adversity, and a dedication to contributing to our community. This year’s winner is The ArtsCenter located in Carrboro, an inclusive venue and community for makers, tinkerers, and art enthusiasts.

Lowdermilk provides counsel on a variety of bankruptcy, complex business, estate planning, and nonprofit matters. She represents businesses and individuals in complex commercial matters in state and federal courts, and has tried multiple state district court bench cases. She also advises clients establishing new entities and reorganizing existing endeavors, and manages the administration of complicated estates.
