Brooks Pierce attorneys Beth Langley and Jessi Thaller-Moran presented a webinar to the Recycling Association of North Carolina, the statewide trade association for metal and materials recyclers, on Aug. 26, 2020.
The presentation, “Maintaining Business Operations Under COVID-19 and Ongoing Workplace Regulations,” focused on applicable employment laws and regulations pertaining to employer’s obligations when employees request leave due to school and childcare closures related to COVID-19, including virtual school; handling temporary and permanent layoffs; and practical tips for businesses to avoid employment and safety-related litigation.
Langley has over 25 years of experience representing businesses in employment litigation in state and federal courts and administrative proceedings, including discrimination matters, civil rights, executive compensation disputes, non-competition agreements, and trade secret protection. Langley counsels employers of all sizes in an array of employment law issues including regulatory and statutory compliance, litigation avoidance and dispute resolution.
Thaller-Moran focuses her practice on employment law and litigation, counseling employers on compliance with state and federal laws. She also uses her experience in the North Carolina Business Court to develop strategies for clients embroiled in a wide range of complex business litigation disputes, helping clients to think creatively about opportunities for resolution and zealously advocating for their interests in court when the need arises.
