Ed Winslow Elected Chair of NC General Statutes Commission

06.10.2012

Ed Winslow was elected Chairman of the North Carolina General Statutes Commission on Friday, June 8, 2012. Winslow, Managing Partner of Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard, LLP, has been appointed to the Commission biannually since 1998 by the Governors in office during that period.

The General Statutes Commission, which assists the North Carolina General Assembly by recommending, drafting, and revising state laws, elects its own chair.  Winslow will serve a two-year term.

"I'm pleased to be part of the Commission and honored to have been elected its Chair. The Commission’s work is vital to our legal system, and I am proud to contribute to it,” Winslow said.

Members of the Commission are appointed by the Governor, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, the President of the North Carolina Bar Association, and the deans of each of the state’s law schools.
