On January 1, 2016, the Triangle Business Journal published a column by Brooks Pierce attorneys Elizabeth Spainhour and Charles Marshall titled “New Year’s Resolution? Think Data Security.” In the column, Spainhour and Marshall outline steps businesses can take to improve their privacy and protect their information from a potential data breach.
Spainhour and Marshall suggest companies form a data breach response plan and invest in cyber security insurance, among other precautions.
As the column states: “It’s not a question of if you will suffer a data breach, but when… Prepare accordingly so you are in the best position to respond.”
