06.01.2016

Brooks Pierce partner and NC Business Court local rules committee chairman Jennifer K. Van Zant was recently published in Business North Carolina's 2016 Law Journal, where she discussed the upcoming changes to the NC Business Court.  The Court will be expanding in number of judges as well as locations, and will have a complete revision of its rules for the first time since 2006.

"North Carolina businesses are fortunate to have an ever-growing body of law to draw from as well as a productive venue for litigating those cases," wrote Van Zant.  The revised rules aim to have several impacts on the litigation process, including encouraging active case management and creative approaches to litigation, emphasizing confidentiality, addressing technological advances and issues, and providing further guidance on litigation procedures.
