Twelve Brooks Pierce Attorneys to Present at the Festival of Legal Learning

Twelve Brooks Pierce attorneys have been selected to present on a variety of topics at the University of North Carolina School of Law’s 2017 Festival of Legal Learning. The event will be held February 10-11 at the William & Ida Friday Continuing Education Center on the UNC campus.

The Festival of Legal Learning will include 120 sessions on a variety of legal topics. The annual event allows attorneys to earn 12 hours of continuing legal education credits while customizing their learning to meet their specific needs.

The Brooks Pierce attorneys presenting at the Festival of Legal Learning are:

  • David Sar presenting “Recent and Interesting Developments in Trademark and Trade Secret Law”
  • Ed Turlington presenting “North Carolina General Assembly and Important Policy Trends”
  • Ben Norman and Jennifer Van Zant presenting “North Carolina Business Court: A Year in Review”
  • Ed West presenting “Criminal Tax Investigations and Prosecutions”
  • Gary Parsons and David Smyth presenting “Ethics Update: Whistleblowers, Compliance, Privilege, Work Product and New Decisions of Note”
  • Clint Morse and John Small presenting “Intersection of Landlord-Tenant Law and Bankruptcy”
  • Stephen Hartzell presenting “Legal Developments for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Drones)”
  • Bob Saunders presenting “Donor’s Dilemma: Private Foundations vs. Donor-Advised Funds: Which is Better for the Donor and for Society?” in conjunction with Mary Morgan, philanthropy counsel for the North Carolina Community Foundation
  • Melissa Weaver presenting “What You Don’t Know about Your Benefit Plans Can Hurt You”
