Brooks Pierce partner Will Quick was recently quoted in an article on COVID-19’s impact on cybersecurity.
The article, “Cyber security and the ongoing impact of COVID-19,” discusses the rise in cybercrime as organizations made the shift to online work and the strain it has put on businesses’ cybersecurity departments.
“Cybersecurity personnel are facing the same sorts of challenges with maintaining their work/life balance, concerns with children in virtual school and so on,” says Quick. “The impact that we immediately see as a result of these issues is that sometimes there are not people available at the company to answer important questions about why a system is set up a certain way or, even worse, who know how to appropriately respond to an incident to secure the company’s systems.”
Quick is certified as a specialist in privacy and information security law by the North Carolina Board of Legal Specialization and holds the CIPP/US designation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals. He works with businesses of all sizes to craft comprehensive privacy programs. He also works with clients to implement appropriate response measures and provide the required notices in the event that a data breach occurs.
