04.03.2025

Brooks Pierce attorneys Mousa Alshanteer, Graham Dean and Claire O’Brien will participate in a North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) event on April 9 organized by the Young Lawyers Division (YLD), the Health Law Section, and the Privacy and Security Section. The panel discussion on the practical use cases and risks of artificial intelligence (AI) in the health care industry and health law practice will be held in person at the Bar Center and via Zoom.

Panelists will explore how AI is transforming patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiencies, as well as legal and ethical challenges, including liability concerns, data privacy, and bias in AI decision-making. They will also discuss emerging trends, regulatory developments, and best practices for attorneys advising clients on AI-related issues in healthcare.

Alshanteer has represented clients of all types and sizes in general business matters. He has advised various health care providers, including physicians, social workers, veterinarians, group practices, hospitals, and surgery centers, as well as other licensees on a wide variety of general business matters, transactional matters, and administrative and regulatory compliance.

Dean advises clients on federal and state privacy compliance matters across various industries. He holds an IAPP CIPP/US certification.

O'Brien advises companies and individuals in the health care, medical device and pharmaceutical industries on a myriad of regulatory compliance issues.
