Brooks Pierce Attorneys Participate in NCBA’s Antitrust & Complex Business Disputes Law Section Program
Brooks Pierce attorneys Eric David, Amanda Hawkins, Agustin Martinez and Gabby Motsinger will participate in the North Carolina Bar Association’s (NCBA) Antitrust & Complex Business Disputes Law Section Program on January 30 at the North Carolina Bar Center. Partner Shana Fulton serves as the section’s chair.
David and Motsinger will present “Sticks, Stones and Streisand: Litigating Business Defamation Claims.” The session will explore both sides of business defamation claims, from pleading through discovery and summary judgment.
Hawkins will participate in the “Complex Litigation in the Generative AI Era: Practical Strategies and Recent Developments” panel discussion. Panelists will cover practical uses of artificial intelligence (AI) in litigation practice, as well as common pitfalls and ethical concerns with this evolving technology.
Martinez will moderate a panel discussion about how lawyers can help create a culture of belonging in the legal profession. He serves as the section’s Diversity Committee co-chair and Young Lawyers Division (YLD) liaison.
David focuses his practice on business litigation, constitutional litigation, and media and communications law. Eric represents businesses, public agencies, and individuals in high-stakes litigation in federal and state court, and especially the North Carolina Business Court.
Hawkins represents businesses and individuals at all levels of state and federal courts, as well as in regulatory proceedings. She uses her experience as a law clerk to inform her litigation strategy and assist clients in all stages of litigation.
Martinez is a litigation attorney, focusing on commercial and complex business litigation. He represents businesses and professionals in all levels of state and federal court.
Motsinger represents clients in various matters including labor and employment and litigation. As a former judicial extern, judicial intern and law clerk, she brings diverse experience from the U.S. District Court and U.S. Court of Appeals to help solve complex legal issues.
